Coach Melynda Murkerson’s Bainbridge Gymnast-A-Cats captured four first-place team awards during a 17 team event on Oct. 16 and 17 in Macon.

The first places came in Level 2, Level 3, Optionals Level 1 and Optionals Level 2.

“Our team held strong and clawed their way to the top,” Murkerson said. “They brought home 150 medals competing against teams from all over the state of Georgia, They all gave us a good fight.

The Gymnast-A-Cats have trained hard and physically and are ready to compete against any team in the state. Their mental game is right on target, Murkerson said.

The coach said the team’s parents are committed and make sure the girls are at their practices.

“They motivate their children during the ups and downs that come with athletic competition, and help them focus on their individual improvement and not on wining and losing,” Murkerson said.

Murkerson pointed out that the more the team works on the inside, the more it will show on the outside.

“I am always proud of the way our team conducts themselves when they compete,” she said.
