Bearcats doing well statistically

Going into today’s afternoon road game with the Northside High School Patriots in Columbus, Ga., the Bainbridge High School Bearcats are at or near the top in several region statistical categories.

Junior quarterback Steven Bench is seventh in the region in rushing with 59 carries for 225 yards, a 4.5 yards per carry average and one touchdown. He had a long run of 23 yards and averaged 56.3 yards a game.

Junior running back Aaron Hall is tenth in the region in rushing with 35 carries for 214 yards, a 6.1 yards per carry average and three touchdowns.

Hall had a long touchdown run of 62 yards against the Northside Warner Robins High School Eagles and he has averaged 49.6 rushing yards a game.

One other Bearcat, sophomore running back Damian Bouie, is among the region’s Top 20 rushers after five games. He is 19th with 27 carries for 98 yards, and a 3.6 yards per carry average. He has averaged 24.5 yards a game.

Bench is sixth in the Region in passing with 25 completions for 218 yards, and one touchdown. He has averaged 54.5 passing yards a game.

Defensively, Bearcats senior linebacker Jamario Brown is sixth in the region in tackles.

Brown has 37 tackles, all solo, and two tackles for losses. Two other Bearcats, senior linebacker Brandon Linzy and senior defensive back Rohan Gaines, are among the top 20 tacklers in the region.

Linzy is 14th with 29 tackles, 26 solo and three assisted, and one tackle for a loss. Gaines is 16th with 28 tackles, all solo. The Bearcats’ defense also has two interceptions for a touchdown—one by Linzy to win the Early County game and the other by defensive back Cameron McDowell against Westover.
