Captain Dale Brock’s 3.5 rated Bainbridge Flint River tennis team, featuring 87-year-old “inspirational leader” David Crockett,  competed in the state tennis championships in Macon, Ga., Friday, May 4, through Sunday, May 6.

Crockett was the most senior player in the 755-player tournament.

Joining Brock and Crockett on the Bainbridge team were Chad Stewart, Bucky Buchanan, Donald Boyette, Ed Jordan, Turner Brock and Johnny Brock.

Also on the team, but unable to make the Macon trip, were Mike Albritton, Marvin Hall, Frank Posey and Joshua Smith.

Brock said that while the team did not win a championship, through the inspiration of their senior leader, Crockett, they were able to enjoy the matches and the fellowship.

“Our opponents were teams from much larger cities like Atlanta, Macon and Rome, but we played well and held our own,” Brock said.
