Gamble signed to Chargers’ active roster

Former Bainbridge High School Bearcats and University of Georgia Bulldogs  linebacker Darryl Gamble has been signed to the San Diego Chargers’ active roster, promoting him from the practice squad.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound National Football League rookie played in three games this season and spent the last five weeks on the practice squad.

As a senior at Georgia in 2010, Gamble had 39 tackles, a pass breakup and 15 quarterback pressures, while earning the Bulldogs most improved defensive player award.

He had a team-high nine tackles against Georgia Tech and eight tackles against  South Carolina.

The former Bearcat had eight tackles and one sack in the Chargers’ opening preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
