Coach Rickey McCullough’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats lost their opening game at the 2011 Fastbreak Basketball Invitational Tournament on Friday, but rebounded to pick up a win in their second game Saturday. The tournament was played at Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Fla.

The Bearcats (1-1) droped a close 59-53 decision Friday night to the West Gadsden High School Panthers of Quincy, Fla. Bainbridge bounced back Saturday to defeat the Suwanee High School Bulldogs of Live Oak, Fla., by the score of 49-41.

In Friday’s loss, Bainbridge was led by forwards Trea Kelly and Paul Chukes. Kelly poured in a team-high 13 points and Chukes added 11. Rounding out the scoring column were guards Justin Baker and Dontavius Marshall, with nine points apiece, Greg Lee with six, and Mike Jones with two.

Chukes led with 18 points in Bainbridge’s Saturday victory over Suwanee. He was followed by Marshall with nine, and Dillen Thomas and Baker with eight apiece. Rodney Glenn added six points for the Bearcats.

Suwanee’s Jimmie Taylor led all scorers, with 19 points.

Bainbridge was scheduled to host Pelham on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at approximately 7:30 p.m., but that game was not completed by press time. Information about that game will be available online at www.thepostsearchlight.com and in the Saturday, Dec. 3, edition of The Post-Searchlight.

The Bearcats will go on the road Friday, Dec. 9, to face the Colquitt County High School Packers in Moultrie, Ga., and then return home Saturday, Dec. 10, to host the Thomasville High School Bulldogs. Both games are scheduled to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
