The funeral service for Guy Christopher Cook, 50, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Cooks Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Poppell and Rev. Bill Swafford officiating. Interment will follow at Cook Cemetery with William Scott, Mike Rudd, Mike Harrell, Greg Gilbourn, Al Boyd and Eddie Bishop serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Ivey Funeral Home.

Chris was born May 10, 1961, in Dothan, Ala. He died Nov. 6, 2011. He was a graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy in Damascus, and attended Bainbridge College. He served as an industrial mechanic with Shaw Industries for over 28 years. Chris was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and will always be remembered for his time and dedication coaching youth baseball. He was a member of Cooks Union United Methodist Church.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his father, Guy Marlin Cook and his step-father, Cecil C. Heard Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Tami D. Cook of Bainbridge; his son, Christian Tanner Cook of Bainbridge; his brothers, Jody Cook and his wife, Mia, of Tallahassee, Fla. and Mark C. Heard of Bainbridge; his sister, Val Brumbelow and her husband, Jerry, of St. Mary’s, Ga.; and his mother, Carolyn Cook Heard of Bainbridge.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
