Grace Cougars win soccer tournament

THE GRACE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY Cougars soccer team gets together with coach Ken Bailey after winning the Panhandle Christian Conference East-West Challenge Tournament championship. Coach Ken Bailey’s Grace Christian Academy Cougars soccer team won three straight games Friday and Saturday to win the Panhandle Christian Conference East-West Challenge Tournament in Fort Walton Bearch, Florida.

All three of their opponents, the Aletheia Christian School Lions, the East Hill Christian School Eagles and the Trinitas Christian School Knights, were from Pensacola, Florida.

Coach Bailey expressed pleasure with his teams play in the tournament.

“The team was never behind in any game,” he said. “Their defense was led by goal keeper Grant McDonald who had several key stops throughout the tournament.”

Coach Bailey praised the play of Alex Ward who anchored a strong line of defenders that also included Jim Whitehead, Josh Carnes and Ben Holden.

The offense was led by Chase Harris with four goals, Kyle Harris with three goals, Brent Warr with two goals, Alex Ward with one goal and Anderson Bailey with two assists.

The Cougars, who are 4-4, will return to action Thursday when they travel to Albany to take on the Byne Christian School Saints.
