A funeral service for E.W. “Pete” Hatcher Jr., 90, of Leander, Texas, formerly of Bainbridge, will be held Friday, March 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church with Minister Jeff Stapleton officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.

Born May 30, 1919, in the Eldorendo community of Decatur County, Mr. Hatcher died on Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Leander, Texas.

Mr. Hatcher was a graduate of Pine Hill High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for the Bainbridge Fire Department from 1938 to 1939 and was a retired salesman for Sears. He was a lifetime member of Orion Lodge No. F.& A.M. and a member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Waylon Hatcher.

Survivors include his wife, Varina L. Hatcher of Leander, Texas; his son, Kevin Hatcher of San Antonio, Texas; his daughters, Gay H. DeBakey of Leander, Texas, and Lauren H. Hansen of Bynum, Mont.; two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
