Ruby Christine Heard Murray, 97, of Faceville, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as active pallbearers.

Ruby Christine Heard was born April 12, 1926, in Colquitt, Ga., the daughter of Hooker & Mae Thornton Heard. She was a graduate of Faceville High School. Christine married George Edward Murray just after her 22^nd birthday, and they made their home in Faceville. She retired as an occupational therapist with Florida State Hospital and was a member of Faceville Baptist Church.

Grandma Murray was an icon in Faceville. She kept an impeccable yard and pulled weeds like a machine. She enjoyed gathering at the table and was known for her delicacies. You didn’t stop by the house without her offering peaches and evaporated milk. Grandma was kind and generous but told it like it was. When Christine Murray said, “Jump”, it looked like popcorn with everyone moving at once. Grandma was a self-taught pianist and artist. She followed Bob Ross and loved painting “happy little trees”. As a child of The Depression, she learned the importance of family, hard work, and saving everything. Grandma never started a project she didn’t complete…you worked until the job was done and didn’t ask questions.

Survivors include her children, Lorraine Hamlin of Faceville, Greg & Connie Murray of Bainbridge, and Sid & April Murray of Lake Seminole; her daughter-in-law, Angela Murray; her grandchildren, Adrienne & Dave, Jason & Christi, Chris & Jamie, Lawson, Cathy & Corbitt, and Sheila & Travis; her great-grandchildren, Chelsey & Tyler, Mercer, Jacey, Emlyn, Chandler, Harper, Jessica & Beau, Zach & Janalyn, Karli, Brooklyn, and Dax; her great-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Faylee, and Abi; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents and her husband, Christine was preceded in death by her children, Dale Murray and Sandy Christine Murray; her siblings, Hazel Lunsford, Bonnie Mae Parrish, Myrtle Lunsford, Frances Sanders, Perry Heard, DeWitt Heard, and Odell Pope; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Murray; and her grandson, Gregory Jenkins.
