Funeral services for Andrew Wes Diego, 27, of Bainbridge, Ga., were held Monday, March 8, 2021, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, Ga. Rev. Damon Gilstrap and Bishop Wes Hardin officiated, with services concluding at the chapel. Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, Ga. Mr. Diego passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga., on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Mr. Diego was born on February 24, 1994, in Bainbridge, to the late Mario A. Diego and Hope Cruz Hendrixson, who survives. On August 24, 2017, he pledged his vows to the love of his life, Rebecca Lynn Fitzgerald, in Columbia, SC. Andrew was a loving and dedicated husband and father to his wife and children. He was kind, sweet and gentle spirited. Family was very important to Andrew. In times of trouble, Andrew would turn to his Bible and read for comfort. His favorite pastime was fishing. He loved music and enjoyed cooking his own recipes.

Survivors include: his wife, Rebecca Diego of Camilla, Ga.; children, Rylan Drew Diego, Ashton Thomas Diego, both of Camilla; mother, Hope Cruz of Cairo; grandmother, Florine Hendrixon of Bainbridge; brother, Justin V. Diego of Cairo; sisters, Ashley Wimberly (Clay), Carla Diego, both of Bainbridge; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wanda and Johnathan Hughes of Columbia, SC; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ted and Brandi Fitzgerald of Camilla; sister-in-law, Aubrey Shiver (Tres) of Newborn, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mario A. Diego.
