Robert Melvin Blackburn

Colonel Robert Melvin Blackburn, age 92, of Donalsonville, Ga. passed away Sunday morning, December 10, 2017, at Donalsonville Hospital.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Blackburn was born in Indianapolis, Indianna on June 15, 1925, to Russell Melvin Blackburn and Edith Elder Blackburn. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 34 years and retired with the rank of Colonel having reached the level of Brigadier General.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Rheta White Blackburn of Donalsonville; his son, Randy Lane Blackburn of Donalsonville; his daughter, Robyn Lynn Blackburn Conway and her husband William of Brasstown, NC; and his sister, Doris Morgan of Augusta, Ga.. Mr. Blackburn is also survived by three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Edith Blackburn.
