Mrs. Ruby D. Bird, 79, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at her home in Attapulgus, Georgia.

Services for Mrs. Bird will be held Saturday, August 10, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Grubbs will be officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.

Ernie Lowery, Colt Lowery, David (Davey) Grubbs, Jr., Jason Spooner, Kevin Spooner, Jeff Powell, J.R. Donley, and Chris Donley will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.  to 8 p.m., Friday, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Ruby Duane Bush was born Dec. 25,1933 in Miller County, Ga., to Collie C. Bush and Beulah West Bush. She married Arthur Bird. She and Arthur have been married 62 years. Duane was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great homemaker and cook. She loved to work in her yard. Duane will be sorely missed by the family and friends she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Collie C. and Beulah West Bush, and sisters, Eva Ray, Margie Nell Whitaker, Mary Simmons, and Colleen Houston.

Ruby Duane Bird is survived by her husband, Arthur P. Bird of Attapulgus; step- mother, Catherine Bush of Punta Gorda, Fla.; her children, Linda Grubbs and husband, The Rev. David Grubbs of Attapulgus, Barbara Spooner and husband, Ross Spooner of Climax, and Peggy Sapp and husband, Hoyt Sapp of Attapulgus; grandchildren, Belinda Powell and husband, Jeff, David (Davey) Grubbs, Jr. and wife, Katie, Ernie Lowery, Colt Lowery, Lea Spooner, Jason Spooner and wife, Zada, Kevin Spooner, and Macey Sapp; great-grandchildren, Shelby Powell, Landon Lowery, and Zoey Gunn; brother and sisters, Dorothy Bedsole and husband, Harold of Auburndale, Fla., Wayne Bush and wife, Linda of Winter Haven, Fla., and Lisa Bush of Punta Gorda; step-brother, Anthony Todd of Punta Gorda.

The family wants to thank Gentiva Home Health, Flint River Hospice, and Dr. Sydney Cochran for the excellent care and attention they provided.
