Carolyn Cone Foster, of Liberty Township, Ohio, formerly of Phoenix, Md., passed away suddenly on June 21, 2013.

Carolyn was born and raised in Georgia. She graduated from Valdosta State College and later earned a master’s degree from The University of Maryland in Elementary Education. She was an elementary school teacher in both Maryland and Ohio for 30 years. She loved teaching children and developing young students. She also taught adult Sunday School classes and had a great love for the Bible. She was an active member of two church families, Lakota Hills Baptist Church in West Chester, Md., and Gunpowder Baptist Church in Freeland, Md. She was also a volunteer on numerous organizations and committees.

She was our Southern peach and never lost her Southern accent, no matter how far north she continued to move over the years. She loved Southern hospitality and always wore a big hat to church on Sunday morning. Being a military wife, she lived and traveled around the world but was always happiest to be at home with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Eugene Foster. She is survived by one son, James E. Foster Jr.,  M.D., (Lisa Heinemeyer) and one daughter Constance Foster-Pierce (Edward Pierce); six grandchildren, J.T., Danny, Megan, Caitlin, and Shannon Foster and Caroline Pierce.

Funeral services are scheduled for Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., at National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. She and her husband, James E. Foster, (Col. U.S. Air Force) will be inured together at that time. Memorials can be made in their name to the Air Force Museum Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 1903 Wright Patterson Air Force Base 45433-1903.
