Mary Ann Belcher, 83, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment followed at Oak City Cemetery with her nephews serving as active pallbearers.

Ms. Belcher was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Bainbridge, the daughter of Norwood Rudolph Belcher and Lois Eugenia White Belcher. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1948. Ms. Belcher worked at Marlene’s Florist as a floral arranger. She enjoyed gospel singing and visiting the local senior center. Ms. Belcher was an active member of First Baptist Church, teaching the second-grade Sunday school class for more than 20 years. She was the Sunday school secretary, enjoyed working in the children’s nursery, and was a member of the adult choir.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Jean Duke; and her niece, Kathryn Duke.

Survivors include her brother, Don Belcher and his wife, Ann, of Bainbridge; her nephews and nieces, John Clark Duke Jr., Beverly Joy Barrett and her husband, Tom, Donny Belcher and his wife, Sheron, Woody Belcher and his wife, Missy, Alyce McCarty, and her husband, Gary, Jim Belcher and his wife, Susan, Georgia Long and her husband, Donny, and Barbara Hinson and her husband, Lofley; numerous great-nieces and great nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
