Funeral services for Vivian O. Thursby, 85, Thomasville, Ga., will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, in Cairo, Ga., with the Rev. Kenneth Cloud officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, in Cairo.

Mrs. Thursby passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, in Thomasville, at Camellia Gardens of Life Care.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Cogan, Jeffery Cogan, Timothy Cogan, Steven Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds and William Thursby IV.

Mrs. Thursby was born on Nov. 11, 1927, in Cairo, to the late Jesse Floyd Oates and Nellie Ruth Jordan Oates. She graduated from Whigham High School, where she was the valedictorian for the Class of 1945.

On Oct. 7, 1945, she married William D. “Bill” Thursby Jr., who preceded her in death on May 9, 2006. They were married for more than 60 years. She was a bookkeeper for the Gem Land Company for approximately 30 years. Mrs. Thursby was the church pianist and member of New Ochlocknee Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Ann Cogan of Jacksonville, Fla., Anita Lynn and Steve Reynolds of Bainbridge; son and daughter-in-law, William David III and Susan Thursby of Cairo; grandchildren and spouses, Robert J. and Lisa Cogan of Orange Park, Fla., Jeffery J. and Leesha Cogan of Callahan, Fla., Timothy and Cindy Cogan of Callahan, Steven T. and Michelle Reynolds of Bainbridge, Matthew M. and Keri Reynolds of Bainbridge, William (Will) D. Thursby IV of Tallahassee, Fla., Stephen Rackley of Tallahassee, Fla., Lisa and Matt Radley of Thomasville; great-grandchildren and spouses, Christopher Cogan of Jacksonville, Hunter Cogan  and Taylor Cogan, both of Orange Park, Todd and Lyla Cogan of Folkston, Ga., Branson Cogan, Colson Cogan, Cassidy Cogan, Jordan Bush, and Chase Bush, all of Callahan, Jacob Reynolds of Bainbridge, Shelbi Reynolds of Bainbridge, Maddox Reynolds of Bainbridge, Reeslyn Thursby of Tallahassee, Ragan Thursby of Tallahassee; and great-great-grandchild, Oakley Cogan of Folkston.
