Pilcher liked QBs’ performances

Cameron McDowell runs in for a touchdown.

Bainbridge High School Bearcats head football coach Ed Pilcher thought all three of his quarterbacks played well in Friday night’s 49-42 regular season ending Region 1-AAAAA homecoming victory over the Lee County High school Trojans.

“Cameron McDowell, who started at quarterbak, played really well and so did Preston Norris and Damian Bouie,” Pilcher said.

“Damian Bouie, who led us down the field on our winning touchdown drive, made a perfect pitch to Michael Stubbs who ran down the right side for the 33-yard winning touchdown. We will probably use all three quarterbacks again this Friday night in our first round State Class AAAAA game against Union Grove High School in McDonough.”

Pilcher said he was a little disappointed that his team allowed Lee County to get back into the game.

“We made the game more exciting than it should have been,” he said. “We built a 42-7 lead, then allowed Lee County to score 35 unanswered points to tie it 42-42, before we put together the winning scoring drive.

“We had three turnovers and a blown punt coverage in the second half that allowed Lee County to get back in the game.”

Pilcher also talked about the contributions of Jamez Harris and Marshall Mack, a pair of senior linebackers who had big quarterback sacks following Stubbs’ winning touchdown run.

“Jamez Harris and Marshall Mack both times blitzed perfectly and got in on the quarterback before he could get anything set up,” Pilcher said. “Senior defensive tackle Brandon Crawford also had a key tackle for a loss.”
