Services for Winnie Mae Duren were held Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Graveside Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Lee Waller officiated. Duren died Saturday, Oct. 27, at Camellia Gardens of Life Care, in Thomasville, Ga. She is the daughter of the late Harvey Lee Gainous and Avi Whigham Gainous.

Duren was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Grady County. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone for 12 years. She retired from Winn-Dixie after working for 38 years in the meat and produce department. She was a member of the Dawson Street Baptist Church. She was married to the late Henry Lee Duren. They married on Sept. 25, 1948. He died Nov. 29, 1970. Duren was an avid fisherman.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Calhoun, Evelyn Gainous, Francis Gainous, Myrtle Lambert; and brothers, Herman Gainous, L.B. Gainous, Fondren Gainous.

Survivors include a sister, Rosa Lee White, of Bainbridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.  The friends will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home, of Thomasville, was in charge of the arrangements.
