Shirley Ann Glass Bender, 74, of Bainbridge, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Chris Ellison officiating, and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be held at Mothers Home Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, prior to the service at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bender was born April 28, 1938, in Miller County, Ga., the daughter of Carl Dewey Glass and Lois Maggie Wilson Glass. She worked in retail for many years and was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Bender will be remembered as a wonderful and caring person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Bender was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Toliver and Edith Josey.

Survivors include her sons, Reid Haire Jr. and his wife, Martti, of Winder, Ga., Tony Ray Haire and his wife, Debbie, of Bainbridge, and Greg Michal of Bainbridge; her brother, Wilson “Buddy” Glass and his wife, Carolyn Josey Glass; her sister, Betty Jean Glass Bryan and her husband, Ted; her five grandchildren, Lisa, Bryan, Samantha, Carey, and Ryan; and several nephews and nieces.
