It is time to dust off your party shoes and head to Spring Creek Park Resort.

Once again, they will be hosting the annual Lake Seminole Festival on Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Music will fill the air, dancing will shake the earth and two fishing tournaments will boil the water.

Proceeds from the festival go back into the community for many worthwhile projects. This year the main beneficiary will be the Seminole County Middle/High School band uniform fund.

There will be a large assortment of arts, crafts and food vendors. Many school groups, civic and community groups will be there to speak on an assortment of topics.

There will be music all day, including songs by the Seminole County Middle/High School Band—the Green Machine. Many of our popular local talents will also be there. The Seminole Singers, Flashing Batons, OCC Dancers, Counted Costs, Leave It To the Kids as well as an assortment of individuals singing our favorite songs.

Children as well as adult festival-goers will enjoy a variety of carnival-style games and activities. Local merchants have been very generous so there is a mountain of prizes to be won.

A contest that is super fun is the Blind Canoe Race. This is when there are two people in the canoe and the one with the paddle is blindfolded. The other must talk their partner through the marked course. First one back wins.

There will be two grand panfish tournaments: One for crappie and the other shellcracker and bream. Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize.

Men, if you can’t find your significant other, try at the arts and crafts booths. There is a great variety of splendid merchandise to browse and buy. Ladies, you will need plenty of time.

A word to the wise: best wear those pants with the elastic waist band that stretches. Also, leave that South Beach Diet book at home for this day. Lots of food vendors will be at the festival and you don’t want to miss a thing. They will feature all of those popular festival yummies like funnel cakes and barbecue. R’s Country Café will also be serving, sporting a full menu. Big Jim’s Oyster Bar will keep its normal schedule.

The band Generation will be featured at the Oyster Bar on this weekend. This will provide an additional opportunity for you to get up and dance. This can be done inside or outside under the velvet spring sky of a Southwest Georgia evening.

Spring Creek Park Resort is at the end of Reynolds Landing Road. Just come down Spring Creek Road, (Highway 253) till you see the signs for the resort at the top of the road. Go on down to the very end and you will see all of the booths and activities there.
