Senior forward Devon Baulkman and Coach Rickey McCullough of the Region 1AAAA champion Bainbridge High School Bearcats have been named the region’s boys basketball player and coach of the year.

It is the second consecutive year that Baulkman has been named player of the year and the third consecutive year McCullough has been named coach of the year.

April Thomas and Bria Harris of the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats join Baulkman, Rodney Glenn and Ronald Crawford as first team All-Region selections.

Lady Cats Briana Wade is a second team All-Region selection and Bearcat Paul Chukes is a an honorable mention All-Region selection.

Baulkman averaged a team-leading 20.8 points and 7.8 rebounds a game.

Coach McCullough led the Bearcats to a 27-3 record, the Region 1AAAA championship and a berth in the second round of the State Class AAAA Tournament.

Glenn averaged 13.2 points and 7.6 rebounds a game. Crawford averaged 7.1 points a game and Chukes averaged 6.2 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.

Crawford was the Bearcats’ leading three-point shooter, averaging 46 percent.

Thomas averaged double figures in points and steals, Harris averaged double figures in points and rebounds and Wade ran Coach Latreisha Moon’s Lady Cats offense from the point guard position.

The Lady Cats finished 21-7, won the Region 1AAAA South Sub-Region championship, finished second in Region 1AAAA and earned a berth in the first round of the State Class AAAA Tournament.
