A funeral service for Nancy Marie Merchant, 65, will be held Thursday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home in Caribou, Maine, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise officiating.

Born on Feb. 21, 1946, in Stockholm, Maine, Mrs. Merchant died Feb. 26, 2011, following a brief illness with her family by her side.

Mrs. Merchant was the daughter of Alphonse and Edwina Peters. She was raised in Presque Isle, Maine. In 1962, she married Leon Merchant and moved to Caribou, where together they raised five children and have made their home for 48 years. Mrs. Merchant cherished the time spent with her family, whether at home, at Nana and Dada’s camp, or up on the woods on their property. She was employed at Save-A-Lot since the opening of the store in Caribou.

Survivors include her husband, Leon; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and John Lyons, and grandson Richard; daughter and son-in-law Patty and Kent Cousins, granddaughters Heather and Logan, and great-granddaughters Keegan and Brooklyn; daughter Lisa, granddaughter Kilee, great-granddaughter Zoe; daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Mitchell Green, grandsons Joshua and Dustin, granddaughter Emma, and great-grandson Issac; and son and daughter-in-law Lee and Kim Merchant, grandsons Brock and Blake.

Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home in Caribou, Maine, is in charge of funeral arrangements. Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
