Coach Chip Ariail’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats soccer team split two games last week.

They defeated the Brooks County High School Lady Trojans 8-3 Tuesday, in Quitman, Ga., and dropped a 4-0 Region 1-AAAA game to the Lee County High School Lady Trojans on Thursday at Centennial Field.

Bainbridge 8, Brooks County 3

Freshman forward Jennifer Beccera and senior midfielder Charlton Reynolds combined for seven goals to lead Bainbridge to its win Tuesday. Beccera had four goals and Reynolds had three.
The Lady Cats took a 1-0 lead over Brooks County in the sixth minute, when Beccera received a pass from Reynolds, dribbled in the penalty area and scored from five yards out.

Beccera scored the next two goals. She intercepted a failed clearance ball scored a breakaway in the 22nd minute and scored after taking a pass from Reynolds in the 31st minute.

Reynolds increased the advantage to 4-0 when she scored on a breakaway in the 34th minute.

The final Lady Cats’ first-half goal, which put them up 5-0, came when sophomore midfielder Florencia Pallotti followed up a deflected shot. Junior midfielder Amber Braswell initially sent a pass to Reynolds, whose shot deflected off a Lady Trojans defender and allowed Pallotti to kick it into the back of the goal.

The Lady Trojans cut the advantage to 5-1 in the 42nd minute when one of their forwards was able to connect from 15 yards out. Their second goal came two minutes later following a failed clearance ball.

In a three-minute span, the Lady Cats and Lady Trojans swapped goals moving the score to 6-3.
The final two Bainbridge goals were scored by Beccera and Reynolds.

Lee County 4, Bainbridge 0

Ariail said his team played inspired soccer Thursday against sub-region-leading Lee County.

“We had a good defensive effort against Lee County,” he said. “They went ahead 1-0 on the followup of a missed shot from 12 yards out in the first half. In the second half, they scored goals in the 51st, 68th and 75th minutes.
