Edward Leon Fleming was born October 24, 1948, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Bill & Dorothy Nix Fleming. He was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1966. He married Dora Weaver in 1968, and they made their home in Newnan. Ed worked in telecommunications for forty years, retiring from Nortel as marketing director. He was a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church.

If you ever met Ed, he never forgot you. He always had a story to tell with quite a comical flair. Strangers felt they had known him since childhood after one encounter. Ed played a little golf and enjoyed fishing, especially if they were biting. He played basketball in high school and was known to drag race on occasion. One memorable incident occurred while trying to impress a girl. Ed was leaning from the car watching the tires spin and took a spill onto the pavement. For most, this would have been the most embarrassing moment ever. For Ed, just another day in his life.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dora Weaver Fleming; his children Angela & Robert Deyong of Niceville, FL and Kristie & Michael Buchanan of Newnan; his grandchildren, Ashley, Bailey, Matthew, Mahalia, Alex, and Joshua; and his great-grandchildren, Presley, Micah, Vaelyn, Tyson, Aries, Orion, Phoenix, and Dominick. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Fleming.
