Janice Elaine Palmer was born September 26, 1946, in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Henry Jr. and Doris Powe Palmer. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. Janice married Robert Meredith in 1964, and they made their home in Bainbridge. She was a devoted member of Black Jack Baptist Church.

Caring for others came naturally to Janice. She felt called to serve and made sure her family, friends, and church family had their needs met before she considered her own. Janice enjoyed decorating cakes and cross stitching, but nothing compared to the smiles on the faces of those who received her gifts. Her telephone was the lifeline she used to keep up with the latest information, check in with friends & family, and connect others with resources.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Robert Meredith; her children, William Childress (Lisa) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Christy M. Phillips, and Robbie Meredith (Suzanne) all of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Rylie, Colby, and Brandon; her great-granddaughter, Cate; her sister, Wilda Gardner (Allen) of Brinson; her best friends, Alice Brock and Lily Weaver; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Jenson, and her son-in-law, Jimmie Phillips.
