Mr. Burke was born on Jan. 26, 1932, and grew up in the FDR community of Seminole Co. He graduated Valedictorian from FDR High School, Class of 1948. He then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in accounting. He served in the U.S. Army as an Army Audit agent. It was during this enlistment he met Joan Theresa Traun in Minneapolis, Minn. They married in Durand, Wisc., on May 26, 1956. Their first home was in Atlanta, Ga., where Mr. Burke was employed as a CPA for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. They moved to Albany, Ga., in 1963 where he was employed by the IRS and taught accounting at Albany Junior College. In 1964 the family moved to Donalsonville, and in 1965 Mr. Burke established the firm of Burke, Bruner, and Co. with his partner Gerald Bruner. This business flourished and today is known as Burke, Worsham, and Harrell, LLC. In addition to his business, he served on the Seminole County School Board and was a member of the Church of the Incarnation.

Mr. Burke retired in 1993 to enjoy his favorite pursuits of golf, fishing, and watching TV, especially his favorite Georgia Bulldogs. Those friends of his knew of his love for the Dawgs, the Seminole Indians, and all things baseball. Jack played baseball in the adult American Legion baseball system in his younger days and was an avid supporter of youth baseball in Seminole County. Although he loved to sing about “Lucille,” the love of his life was his wife of 62 years, Jo.

Mr. Burke is survived by his wife, his five children, Brenda (Bo) Bowen, Barbara (Carlous) Chandler, Becky (Wayne) Worsham, Brian (Gina) Burke, and Brad (Elizabeth) Burke; nine grandchildren, Kris Bowen, Andy (Julie) Bowen, Matt Bowen, Collin and Connor Chandler, Lindsay (Ben) Dickerson, Logan (Jamie) Holt, and Sydnee and Jack Burke. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Ava Bowen, Sarah, Anna, Jake, and Kate Bowen, Cole and Connor Dickerson and Jackson Wayne Dickerson arriving soon. He is also survived by his niece Peggy (Donald Ray) Quimby Weaver and her family, and a nephew Stan (Pam) Quimby and his family.

Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Ella Earnest Burke, and his sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Buford Quimby.
