The Bainbridge men’s soccer team hosted Harris County on Friday, March 17, and lost 6-1.

While the Bearcats competed for the majority of the game, the opening 15 minutes and the closing 15 minutes were the lapse in focus that allowed Harris County to score six goals.

In an effort to set the tone early, Harris County opened the game up with three quick goals in the first 11 minutes of play.

The Bearcats settled down and tried to get back into the game and were able to stall the Harris County attack for the majority of the game. In the final 15 minutes of the game, the Bearcats conceded three more quick goals.

“They opened the game and in the first 11 minutes scored three goals and it really took us out of our game plan,’ said head coach Rick Lewis. “By the time we regrouped at halftime, we had held them scoreless but in the last 12 minutes of the game they scored three back to back goals.”

The Bearcats offense came from a Caleb Harris goal that was assisted by Joey Mathis, and the Bearcat defense was able to hold well for the majority of the game.

“We did what we were supposed to do, we weren’t giving them anything they were earning it,” said Lewis. “They were just really fine-tuned.”

The Bearcats host Warner Robins next on Friday, March 24.
