The Grace Christian Academy boy’s basketball team put on a show for their homecoming game on Friday, Feb. 3, dominating Westwood Academy 70-55.
What started out as a high scoring affair leveled out for a moment before it revved back up to see Grace pull for ahead of the competition.
Grace and Westwood both came out shooting in the first quarter, and both scored 30 points in the quarter. Westwood led Grace at the end of the quarter 32-30. After a highly offensive first quarter, both teams lost it in the second quarter.
The second quarter might as well have not even happened, because neither team managed to score, leaving the score at 32-30 in favor of Westwood going into halftime.
The second half saw the offense pick up for both teams again, but Grace started to pull away. Grace put up 18 points in the third to Westwood’s eight. In the fourth quarter, Grace scored 22 to Westwood’s 15 for a final score of 70-55 in favor of Grace.
Sam McRae led the Cougars in scoring with 29 points, and also led in rebounding with 10. McRae shot 10 for 17 from the floor.
Caleb Carr was second in scoring for the Cougars with 12 points after shooting four for nine from the floor.
