Thomas Hubert Parker, 95, of Climax, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. A private interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Steve Dean, Todd Hand, Lane Rich, Johnny Harrell, Buster Bell, and Andy Bell serving as active pallbearers. The Penney-Lambert Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Hubert was born October 1, 1919 in Grady County, Ga., the son of Thomas Melvin Parker and Fannie Mae Bell Parker. He was a graduate of Climax High School, Class of 1939 and served liberating the Philippines in the U. S. Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to Climax where he farmed his entire life. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for almost 60 years, served as a director of Decatur County Farm Bureau and was former chairman of Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. He was a member of Orion Lodge # 8 F. & A. M., Hasan Shrine Temple and V.F.W. Post 4904.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Edna Lou Broome Parker of Climax; his son, T. H. “Bert” Parker, Jr. (Lindy) of Bainbridge; his daughter, Jill Parker Blair (David) of North Augusta, SC; his sisters, Helen Dean of Bainbridge,  and Marge Justman of Keene, NH; his grandchildren, Brannon Parker (Sarah), Brett Parker, Bethany Parker, Brooke Parker, Anna Lee Poole (Jeremy), Alison Blair, and David Blair, Jr. (Lindsay); and his great-grandson, Weston Lee Poole.
