Southewest Georgia Credit announces local scholarship winners

Southwest Georgia Farm Credit presented three local seniors with $1,000 scholarships to pursue their college education.  Bainbridge High School recipients were Rebecca Mulkey and Charley Rayfield and Grace Christian Academy recipient was Josiah Austinson.

Ms. Mulkey plans to attend the University of Georgia to pursue a degree in Agricultural Communications. Ms. Rayfield will attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in Animal Science, and Mr. Austinson plans to attend Bainbridge State College to pursue a degree in the forestry field.                                                 .

“Rebecca, Charley, and Josiah exemplify the kind of student we wanted to help by providing these scholarships,” said Richard S. Monson, president and chief executive officer of Southwest Georgia Farm Credit. “They are great role models and we are honored to award scholarships to each of them.”

In the fifth year of its scholarship program, Southwest Georgia Farm Credit commits $4,000 each year to area students, awarding four seniors with $1,000 each.

The fourth scholarship winner was Knox Theus of Schley County High School in Ellaville.

Southwest Georgia Farm Credit, headquartered in Bainbridge, is an agricultural lending cooperative owned by its member-borrowers. It provides farm loans for land, equipment, livestock and production, as well as rural home mortgages. It is part of the national Farm Credit System, a network of financial cooperatives established in 1916 to provide a dependable source of credit to farmers and rural America.
