On a cold and festive Saturday morning, the Firehouse Arts Center transformed into a winter wonderland by hosting an amazing Gingerbread House Decorating Contest and a delightful kid’s cookie decorating event. Locals unleashed their creative energy to showcase their baking and decorating skills.

Rebecca Cole, the Firehouse Arts Center Director, matched the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest to the enchanting Riverside Arts Fest, where participants re-imaged art in a diverse categories. The Riverside Arts Fest featured many artists who came to Bainbridge to decorate art based on one state. Cole stated, “One year, they had a guy who did sand castle art, and he created this giant sand castle in the mall back when it was like a happening place. And so everyone in town would come see him work on the sand castle, and then during the arts fest, the kids went out to the boat basin beach and had a sand castle contest, and my goal would be to have a more professional artist come and build a really cool gingerbread house, maybe next year, and the year after that and have more participation from the community, but also see a professional actually create something bizarre like dispensable art.”

The event was generously sponsored by: Seaborn Printing, First Port City Bank, First State Bank, Woodie & Cile Warr, Premier Group Realty, and First National Bank.
