Bainbridge home destroyed in fire

Bainbridge Public Safety is currently investigating the cause of a house fire that destroyed a North Miller Avenue home Thursday night.

No injuries were reported, and the family was not in the home at the time, according to the incident report.

The owner returned to the home around 11 p.m. Thursday to find it on fire and was able to save the family dog. BPS received the alarm at 11:27 p.m. and was on the scene at 11:31 p.m., according to the report.

It took officers until 1:15 a.m. to get the blaze under control, and every available on-shift officer was called to help and all trucks were called in. The scene was cleared around 3:15 a.m.

The Decatur County Fire and Rescue also assisted with the incident.
