Pastor Burton Palmer Long, 87, of Jupiter, Fla., passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at his residence.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Black Jack Baptist Church, with the Rev. Abb Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery, with Adley Eastridge, Quinton Eastridge, Chad Long, Ethan Long, Lee Sesco and Matt Kirby serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Black Jack Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2747 Old Whigham Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817.

Pastor Long was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Bainbridge, the son of Ira Long and Regina Palmer Long. He attended Norman College in Norman Park, Ga., and graduated from Tennessee Temple College. Pastor Long served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a pastor at West Street Baptist Church in Bainbridge, and Beacon Baptist Church in Jupiter.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Lee, Irnia Onez, John Rogers, James Bronza “Red,” Floyd, Maury, Edward Senoy, Lottie Regina, Ira Tridice “Tilly,” and William Ludo.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Iris Willie Baker Long of Jupiter; his sons, Burton Palmer Long Jr. of Jupiter, and Jasper Rogers Long and his wife, Melissa, also of Jupiter; his daughters, Iris Priscilla Long Eastridge and her husband, Stephen, of Rowlette, Texas, Rhonda Kay Long Sesco and her husband, Terry, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Donna Alisa Long Dotson and her husband, William, of Winter Park, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
