Betty Jo Sapp, 81, of Perry, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Perry, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Sapp was born July 5, 1931, in Bainbridge, to the late Jack and Elia Nix Howell.
In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting with friends, traveling with her sister, singing, doing seamstress work, needlework, arts, crafts, ceramics, fishing, camping, and gardening. Betty Jo worked for many years as a dietician at Gerber Little Friends Daycare. She was an active church member her entire life, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Perry.
She is survived by: a daughter, Cindy Pomeroy and fiancé Steven Mullin, of Perry; two sons, James “Jim” E. Sapp and wife Judy, of Mims, Fla., and Larry E. Sapp and wife Jo Anne, of St. Cloud, Fla.; one sister, Francis Wilda Owens, of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her best friend and dog, “Chunky,” and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was her husband, James Edwin Sapp, in 1965.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home, 1400 Johnson Stripling Road, in Perry. Interment will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, in Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery in Bainbridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home.
