Bearcats region cross-country champions

Coach Lisa Enfinger’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats cross-country team won the Region 1-AAAAA championship, and her Lady Cats finished third, at Saturday’s region meet, in Columbus, Ga.

Both teams will advance to Saturday’s State Class AAAAA Meet, in Carrollton, Ga.

Bearcat Chase Harris finished second overall in the region, completing the 5,000- meter (3.1-mile) course in a time of 17 minutes, 2 seconds.

Other strong Bearcats finishers were Tae Ross, who was sixth in a time of 18:19, Brad Cox, who was eighth in a time of 18:42, and Bennett Enfinger, who was 10th in a time of 19:15. Brenden Greene was just behind Enfinger, with a time of 19:28.

In girls competition, sisters Paige and Amber Braswell were second and fourth overall, with times of 20:59 and 21:43, respectively.
