Lundsford said he and his partner got off to a strong start, with a first-day catch of 25.12 pounds.

“Our first day started off great,” he said. “We caught all our fish by 10 a.m. and all of them in one spot.”

The winning team also had the big fish of the tournament. It tipped the scales at 6.24 pounds.

The total number of fish for the tournament was 171 and the total number of fish released back into the lake alive was 163.

The tournament was just one of many tournaments offered in 21 states throughout the year. They are designed to provide low cost close to home tournaments for weekend anglers.
