Coach Eugene Singletary’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets here Wednesday.

While the Lady Cats, who are 4-3 for the season, and Lady Yellow Jackets are both members of the new Region 1-AAAAA Sub-region B, the decision did not count as a sub-region loss.
Prior to the season, Singletary and the coaches of Central and the Lee County High School Lady Trojans, the other two Sub-region B teams, agreed to count only one of their two regular-season games as a sub-region game.

The game that counts in the sub-region will be played when the Lady Cats travel to Thomas County to play the Lady Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Tuesday’s game featured a third-inning triple play by the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Right fielder Morgan Phillips walked to open the Lady Cats third and third baseman Caitlin Cato reached on an error, putting runners on first and second with nobody out.

Shortstop Laura Griner hit a low liner to short which the shortstop reached down and caught before it hit the ground for the first out.

Thinking the ball hit the ground, the two runners broke and were thrown out before they were able to get back to their base for the second and third outs.

The Lady Yellow Jackets scored single runs in the fourth and seventh innings, and two runs in the fifth inning, to pull out the win.
