Senior linebackers B.J. Cheatem, Jamez Harris and Marshall Mack are working hard and demonstrating a lot of leadership in early season Bainbridge High School Bearcats football drills, coaches say.

“Our three senior linebackers had strong spring practices and their hustle and strong work ethic is carrying over to preseason practice,” Bearcats head coach Ed Pilcher said. “They are running to the football and not allowing long gains.

“Offensively, our two senior running backs Terry Lewis and Damian Bouie are running hard and picking up yardage.”

Lewis had 194 carries for 1,066 yards in 11 games last year while Bouie had 111 carries for 733 yards in 10 games.

“For the split back veer set, which our offense works from, to be successful you must have a strong running game, so Terry and Damian are strong assets,” Pilcher said. “They are running behind a veteran offensive line anchored by senior center Cole Granato.

“A pair of sophomore running backs, Tremain McCray and Isaiah Brown, are also running well.

“We switched senior running back Aaron Calloway to quarterback and he is doing a good job backing up junior starter Preston Norris. Hayden Guy, a young sophomore, is also working at quarterback.”
