Coach Ed Pilcher’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats football team went up against teams from Georgia, Florida and Alabama in a 7-on-7 passing competition Tuesday afternoon at their practice field.
Doing the throwing for the Bearcats were junior quarterbacks Preston Norris and Aaron Calloway. Calloway played running back last season.
Georgia teams taking part in the competition, in addition to the Bearcats, were the Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets, the Thomasville High School Bulldogs and the Cairo High School Syrupmakers.
Representing Florida were the Tallahassee Leon High School Lions and the Tallahassee Chiles High School Timberwolves.
Representing Alabama were the Eufaula High School Tigers and the Enterprise High School Wildcats.
Pilcher said he and receivers coach Larry Cosby were anxious to get a look at some of their wide receivers, particularly Curtis Keaton, who caught the ball well in an earlier passing camp with the Thomasville High School Bulldogs.
Bearcats defensive backs, who Pilcher coaches himself, were senior Devin Hubbard, senior Dontavious Baulkman, senior Cameron McDowell, senior Justin Baker, senior George Clemmons, junior Cedric Jones and junior Craig Cooper.
“Our passing game is improving,” Pilcher said. “We don’t throw a lot, but when we do we are pretty successful.”
