New Bearcats head baseball coach Brian McCorkle schooled the youngsters in pitching, fielding, hitting and other fundamentals of the game.

“We are just getting started, but the kids are very excited and anxious to learn,” McCorkle said. “Our next camp will be a one-day pitcher and catcher camp from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 14.

“At the pitcher and catcher camp we will teach the proper form and balance pitchers need to have when throwing from the windup and the stretch.

“We will work with the catchers on their catching and throwing and teach them the proper grip on the ball when throwing to a base to try to get a baserunner who is attempting to steal.”

McCorkle said he liked the great enthusiasm the youngsters attending the fundamentals camp demonstrated.

“All of the campers attending the fundamentals camp were enthusiastic and eager to learn,” he said.
