Grace students earn sports awards

Kyle Harris received the male athlete of the year award and Emma Heard received the female athlete of the year award, to highlight the Grace Christian Academy sports awards program Monday, May 14, at the Bainbridge First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Varsity girls basketball awards went to Rachel Harrell as most valuable player and Emma Heard as most improved player,

Rhaegan Henderson won the Christian character award and Shelby Woodrum won the best defensive player award.

Harrell was a Class A All-Region and All-State performer and a National Association of Christian Athletes All-American performer. Henderson won the girls basketball Christian character Award.

In boys basketball, All-Region performer Phillip Bowen was most valuable player, Austin McQuaid was most improved player, and Jack McRae was an All-Region selection,

Brent Warr was the coach’s award winner and Jackson Harrell received the Christian character award.

Kelsey Harrell won varsity softball’s best offensive player award, Jeri Sloan was best defensive player, Chelsey Murray was most intimidating player,and Emma Heard won the prayer warrior award.

In varsity baseball, Anderson Bailey won the most valuable player award, Michael Mills won the rookie of the year award, Bo Bailey won the Cougar spirit award and Kyle Harris won the Christian character award.

Varsity cheerleading honorees were most valuable performer Abbey Smith, Cougar leadership award winner Bailey Bristow and Christian character award winner Hannah Holden.

Taking varsity volleyball honors were most improved player Kendi Castoro, coach’s award winner Emma Heard, heart and soul award winner Leah Smith and Christian character award winner Melissa Mills.

Junior varsity volleyball award winners were most valuable player Kelsey Harrell, coach’s award winner Emilee Murr and Christian character award winner Lindsey Duke.

Earning varsity soccer awards were most valuable player Kyle Harris, most improved player Zyreese Guy, rookie of the year Anderson Bailey, best defensive player Alex Ward, Cougar spirit award winner Chase Harris and Christian character award winner Josh Carnes.

Junior varsity cross country male runner of the year was Caleb Harris. In boys varsity cross country, Chase Harris was runner of the year, Anderson Bailey was rookie of the year, Jackson Harrell was most improved runner and Kyle Harris was Christian character award winner.

In girls varsity cross country, Perra Harrell was runner of the year, Beth Hodges was rookie of the year and Abbey Smith was Christian character award winner.

In junior varsity boys basketball, Sam McRae was the best offensive player, Dakoya Vickers was most improved player and Jared Duke was best defensive player ,and junior varsity girls basketball, Perra Harrell was most valuable player, Emilee Murr was most improved player and Lindsey Duke was Christian character award winner.
