Lee County downs Bearcats

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats baseball team dropped a 12-2 Region 1-AAAA game to the Lee County High School Trojans on Tuesday, in Leesburg, Ga.

The Trojans went ahead 4-0 in the top of the first inning. Luke Roland, who went 4-for-4 in the game, ignited the rally with a one-out double. First baseman Daniel Nichols followed with a triple, driving him home.

Nichols came in with the third run when designated hitter Ty McAllister was safe on an error. McAllister scored the fourth run on a fielder’s choice.

The Bearcats, who are 6-5 overall and 1-3 in Region 1-AAAA play, scored both of their runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Third baseman Jackson Jones and first baseman Gunnar Griffin both walked and scored on fielder’s choices.
They returned to Region 1-AAAA action Friday, taking on the Hardaway High School Golden Hawks in Columbus, Ga.

They will return home Tuesday to take on the Maclay High School Marauders from Tallahassee, Fla., at 5:30 p.m. at Bearcat Field.

Their next Region 1-AAAA game will be Friday, March 30, against the Northside-Columbus High School Patriots at 5 p.m., in Columbus.
