Bearcats wrestlers strong at region

Strong Region 1-AAAA Tournament performances by region champion Cole Bulger and region runner-up Kole Gilbourn highlighted coach Chad Smith’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats wrestling team’s strong region tournament performance.
The tournament, held Friday and Saturday at Lee County High School in Leesburg, Ga., featured 11 Bearcats wrestlers in competition.
“We took 11 wrestlers to Leesburg and they all wrestled hard and gave it their all,” Smith said. “Ashton Cato and Grayson Heard were impressive, bringing home third- and fourth-place medals. Sophomore Charlie Emanuel finished in fourth place and won two of his matches convincingly.
“Jacob Trawick wrestled up in weight class from 170 pounds to 182 pounds and still finished fourth.”
He and all other medalists will move on to sectionals this Friday and Saturday at Northside-Columbus High School.
