Lady Cats go 1-1 at Florida tournament

Coach Kelvin Cochran’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats basketball team split its two games this past weekend at the 2011 Fastbreak Basketball Invitational Tournament, held at Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Fla.

In its first game Friday evening, Bainbridge was edged 45-42 by the host Rickards High School Lady Raiders. The Lady Cats bounced back with a win Saturday morning, defeating the East Gadsden High School Lady Jaguars, from Havana, Fla., by a score of 69-42.

In their three-point loss to Rickards, the Lady Cats were led by Briana Wade with 14 points. Takia Crankfield added seven points and Ri’Chana Jackson added six.

Bainbridge featured a balanced attack in its win Saturday over East Gadsden.

Jackson led the way with 21 points, followed by Alex Carter with 10. Takeia Crankfield added eight for Bainbridge (1-1).

The Lady Cats were scheduled to host Pelham on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m., but that game was not completed by press time. Information about that game will be available online at www.thepostsearchlight.com and in the Saturday, Dec. 3, edition of The Post-Searchlight.

Bainbridge will go on the road Friday, Dec. 9, to face the Colquitt County High School Lady Packers in Moultrie, Ga., and then return home Saturday, Dec. 10, to host the Thomasville High School Lady Bulldogs. Both games are at 6 p.m.
