Cross-country teams honored

The honoring of coach Jenny Oldaker’s Southwest Georgia Region Champion Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats and the selection of Ashten Oldaker as winner of the Dylan Reid Faircloth the First Memorial Award highlighted Tuesday night’s annual cross country awards banquet at the Firehouse Gallery.

The scholarship, named in honor and memory of a late Bainbridge High School Bearcats runner who lost his life in automobile accident, was presented by his mother June Faircloth.

On the Southwest Georgia Middle School Region championship team were Bennett Enfinger, Brendan Greene, Matthew Green, Carson Harrell, Grayson Graham, Logan Moorehead, Nathaniel Lambert, Carson Inlow, Matthew Boyett, Perry Waddell, Steven Key and Wright Cook.

Master of ceremonies for the niight was cross country community coach Greg Waddell. He and coach Oldaker honored top Bearcats and Lady Cats runners from Bainbridge Middle School and Bainbridge High School.

Middle school most outstanding runner awards went to Region champion Bennett Enfinger and Jessica Miranda. High school most outstanding runner awards were captured by Davey Reynolds and Paige Braswell.

Most improved middle school runners were Perry Waddell and Sarah Michael Farrington and high school most improved runners were Brad Cox and Mary Anna Cunningham.

Middle school coach’s awards for hard work and dedication went to Brendan Greene and Jamia Powell. Taking home the high school coach’s awards were Javontae Ross and Amber Braswell,

Ashten Oldaker and Davey Reynolds were selected as high school team captains.

Middle school rookies of the year were Mathew Green and Alysha Stubbs and high school rookies of the year were Tucker Greene and Lilliana Gomez.

High school 10th through 12th graders receiving scholar athlete awards for having a 90 or higher grade point average and an ACT score of 21 or an SAT score of 1000 were Ashten Oldaker, Mitchell Massengil, Anne Reynolds, Noah Thorn, Mary Anna Cunningham and Hunter Savage.

Varsity letterman awards went to Ashten Oldaker, Anne Reynolds, Mary Anna Cunningham, Morgan Lane, Emma Griffin, Amber Braswell, Sarah Grace Carpenter, Paige Braswell, Caitlin Cato, Davey Reynolds, Josh Moorehead, Ryan Jordan, Hunter Savage, Noah Thorn and John Hemanes.

Seniors receiving special recognition were Ashten Oldaker, Anne Reynolds, Mary Anna Cunningham, Davey Reynolds, John Hemanes and Mitchell Massengill.
