FORMER BAINBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL Bearcats infielder Beau Parker, a senior second baseman with the Georgia Southwestern University Hurricanes in Americus, prepares to feed the ball to young Dalton Harrell during Tuesday’s session of the 12th annual Future Bearcat Summer Baseball Fundamental Camp.

Six-to-14-year-old youngsters learned the finer points of hitting, fielding and good defensive play from Bainbridge High School coaches and current and former players this week.

They were taking part in the 12th annual Future Bearcat Summer Baseball Fundamental Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Bearcat Diamonds.

Bainbridge High School Bearcats varsity assistant Coach Brian McCorkle and Bearcats junior varsity coach Kevin Bearden schooled first basemen on  proper fielding stance, getting the tag down when taking a pickoff throw from the pitcher and how to make a proper feed from the shortstop to the second baseman when starting a double play.
