Farrington wins Johnson Award

SARA FARRINGTON holds the prestigious Nick Johnson Award, the highest honor a Hutto Middle School Band member can receive, as she stands with Hutto Band Director Spence Salter and Hutto Principal Florence Harrell.

Clarinet player Sara Farrington won the prestigious Nick Johnson Award, highlighting the annual Hutto Middle School Band concert and awards programs held May 10 in the Hutto courtyard.

The Nick Johnson Award, the highest honor a Hutto Band member can receive, is named for a former Hutto High School and Hutto Middle School band director who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident.

Hutto Band Director Spence Salter, who will be leaving to become band director at Rabun County High School, was made an honorary lifetime member of the award-winning Bainbridge High School Band, which he formerly played with.

Tuba player Clark Wiggins and trombone player Abigail McMillan were co-winners of the sixth-grade Directors Award.

The most outstanding sixth-grade percussion award was shared by Jedarrious Brown and Christian Novak.

Trumpet player Alex Coleman and French horn players Mallory West and Summer Boyd shared the sixth-grade most outstanding brass award.

Flute player Lindsey Buckhalter, oboe player Arwen Anderson and clarinet player Regan Cutchin shared the sixth-grade most outstanding woodwind award.
