The employees of Georgia Industries for the Blind in Bainbridge, which is part of the Georgia Department of Labor’s Rehabilitation Services division, came together to provide tornado damage relief to affected communities in Spalding County, Ga.

Despite being affected by a four-day work week and plant shutdowns, GIB’s Bainbridge plant employees united efforts to purchase more than $500 in nonperishable food items and cleaning supplies.

GIB, which has a sister manufacturing plant in Griffin, delivered the donations to the Adventist Disaster Response Emergency Distribution Center in Griffin, Ga.

“We want our neighbors and friends in Griffin to know we care,” said Adeline Escoffery, a production worker at the Bainbridge plant.

Escoffery went on to say, “It could be us in their shoes. You never know.”
