Jones-Wheat Elementary held its annual Black History program on Feb. 25. All grades participated in the program, which included songs, poems and informational reading. Capria Miller, a Bainbridge High School senior and a Teacher Cadet at Jones-Wheat, sang “Amazing Grace.” The Rev. James Platt, pastor of Nelson Chapel AME Church, was the guest speaker. The Rev. Platt gave interesting facts about black Americans who were not well know, but who invented or did important things such as invent the folding chair and the golf tee.
