JV baseball starts strong

BHS JV BASEBALL players and coaches are off to an undefeated start. The Bainbridge High School junior varsity Bearcats baseball team has opened its season strong, posting a 5-1 record through six games.

The team, coached by head coach Kevin Bearden and assistant coach Troy Thomas, began with a 9-7 come-from-behind victory over the Marianna, Fla. High School Bulldogs Tuesday, February 22 at home.

The JV Bearcats then defeated the Thomasville High School JV Bulldogs 10-1 Thursday, February 24 on the road.

They remained on the road Saturday, February 26, defeating the Sneads (Fla.) High School JV Pirates 18-2.

On Monday, February 28, the Bearcats returned home and shut out the Cairo High School JV Syrupmakers 10-0 in four innings.

In their two most recent games, the Bearcats bowed 13-7 to the Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets on Thursday and defeated Northview High School of Dothan, Ala. 14-1 on Saturday.

Among those being counted on to provide strong pitching efforts for the JV Bearcats this season are Matt Burk, Rion Murrah, Michael Faircloth, Cole Thomas, Tate Lambert and Cody Long.

Catching behind the plate are Cole Granato and Jonathan HalI. In the field are Tray Suber, Jackson Jones, Ryals Smith, Shawon Gardner, Ben Day and Reid Willis.
