A memorial service for Mary Ellen McKay, 79, of Bainbridge, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 516 East Broughton Street, Bainbridge, GA 39817.

Born Dec. 27, 1931 in Iowa City, Iowa, Mrs. McKay passed away Thursday, February 24 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. McKay was the daughter of E. Bryant Woods and Ella Zoph Woods. She held a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and was a teacher for many years. Mrs. McKay was a member of St John’s Episcopal Church, a member of Daughters of the King, and an active volunteer for relief efforts around the world.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, George McKay of Bainbridge; her son, Robert Gary McKay of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth Brierley of Boynton Beach, Fla.; her three grandchildren, Troy Roberson, Alex McKay, and Justin McKay; and one great-granddaughter, Charlee Roberson.
